Cole Calico
About
Cole Calico is my current artist project. This project aims to be a more serious rebrand for the direction of music I started with “Bond.” I aim to craft a unique sound within the loose umbrella of a genre that is Alternative-Pop while having a cohesive image and aesthetic. I aim to bring my love for live instrumentation to the world of electronic music production to make pop music that incorporates all of my musical inspirations. Big inspirations for me are artists such as Steve Lacy, Lizzie McAlpine, Mk.gee, Dijon, Bon Iver, and many more. The first appearance of Cole Calico is the last song on the album “Cluttered” by Bond. The song is supposed to represent a transition from Bond. to Cole Calico, with the 2nd half of the song being a look into what Cole Calico can and will sound like.
Release 01 - Bad Excuse feat. Wishlane
“‘Bad Excuse’ packages relatable feelings of self doubt and imposter syndrome in an up-beat and summer ready musical experience. Combining pop and indie rock elements, the track's lively drum pattern, groovy bass line, and shimmering guitars create the perfect soundtrack for a sunny drive with the windows down, all while subtly delving into the insecurities that can arise during the freedom of summer. The infectious rhythm instantly grabs your attention, while the captivating guitar work and memorable hooks stay with you long after the song ends. Featuring a guest performance from artist ‘wishlane,’ the synergy between the two artist’s vocals adds an extra layer of excitement to the mix. With its engaging theme and consistent energy, ‘Bad Excuse’ aims to become a staple addition to your summer rotation.” - Press Release, Prahlaad Das

Cole Calico Singles
-
“Fangs” was the 2nd single for Cole Calico. This song was inspired by a werewolf statue put up in the center of my home town for Halloween. The song feels like a chase, the upbeat nature driving the singer forward. The lyrics represent a feeling of self-doubt and hatred, often fully taking over control of the mind, like a werewolf during a full moon.
-
“Freak Out” released shortly after “Fangs.” This song is a song about overthinking every little thing, especially in the context of a relationship. This song was inspired by artists such as mk.gee and Cybertrash.

All Nighter
“All Nighter” is an annual challenge held by FORM, an online music community focused on bringing creative challenges to artists and supporting various charities. Participants have 24 hours to start and finish a song from scratch. When the time limit runs out, all songs are submitted. They then choose their favorite submissions and release the songs in a compilation called “All Nighter, Vol. X.” All streaming proceeds of these compilations are donated to a charity of the organizations choice. In the pasts, artists I look up to such as Virtual Riot, underscores, Jane Remover, and others have participated. I had the pleasure of being a part of these compilations over the past couple of years.

“LIVING RIGHT” was made for All Nighter, Vol. 8 in 2023. Made in colaboration with artists Dez Forman, corefish, oldcollin, and dramatrial, this song was a fun challenge made between friends in the very early hours of the morning. This song is the most streamed Cole Calico song, and all streaming proceeds are donated to “Out & Equal,” an organization focused on workplace equality for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Keep It Up” was made for All Nighter, Vol. 9 in 2024. Created just by myself and my main music collaborator Dez Forman, this song was a refreshing creative experience after going through a creative rut. All proceeds are donated to the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, an organizations focused on supporting individuals with various eating disorders.
